Summer fun for all

Summer events are heating up around North Alabama.
Other exhibits at the museum are An Eye for Adventure: Walter Anderson's View of Children's Literature, showing now through Oct. 31, and Visions of Nature: The World of Walter Anderson, open now through Aug. 8. The Visions of Nature exhibit takes the viewer on a metaphorical journey from the mainland to Horn Island, off the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, through a bounty of works in various mediums that depict the natural world. Works by New Orleans photographer Dr. Donald Bradburn will accompany the exhibit. For details and admission cost on any event at the museum, telephone (256) 535-4350 or (800) 786-9095. Concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. and last until 8 p.m. The concerts take place in Big Spring Park, and admission is free.
Picnic dinners, lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged. Snacks, pizza and soft drinks will also be available for sale.
The rock-n-roll oldies group, Reunion. will open the series on June 7. Old Town Brass and the Huntsville Concert Band will perform on June 14. The Brass Band of Huntsville and Jerry McAllister and Open Delta are slated to appear on June 21. The 151st Army Concert and Jazz Bands will appear on June 28. For more information, call

Appraisal Road Show will be at the center June 17-18. The group is the premier public auction company for aviation and space collectors worldwide. Free appraisals will be offered. The 313th Army Band will be performing under the Pathfinder exhibit on June 18 from 11:45 a.m-1 p.m. in a free concert. Apollo 11 astronaut and moonwalker Buzz Aldrin will be the featured guest for the First Ever Saturn/Apollo Reunion on June 19. Open to the general public, this is a reunion of the individuals and community that put mankind on the moon and a fundraiser for the rocket that took us there. Admission is a $25 donation for adults, $10 for children 12 and under.
On June 20 the production crew from VH-1's "The Surreal Life" will be on location to shoot an episode of their popular program. For additional information on any event, call (256) 721-7160.
