DANVILLE – Defense ruled the game from start to finish as Danville and New Hope combined for less than 200 total yards. The Hawks, however, would solve the Indians' defense for one score early in the fourth period on their way to a 7-0 spring football win.
The Hawks broke a scoreless tie on the opening play of the fourth period as Jeremy Orr raced nine yards around the right side for the games' only touchdown. Alex Randolph added the extra point. Orr would end the night with 98 yards on 20 carries.
The Danville defense allowed only 54 yards of total offense while holding the visiting Indians to less than one yard per carry.
The Hawk defense limited New Hope to 14 yards rushing on 16 carries.
"I thought we played super defense tonight," Danville coach Joey Burch said. "I was very impressed with the play of Lee Waddell, Brain Sullivan, Logan Asherbranner and Michael Potter. Our defense just got after them all night."
The Hawks missed out on an early opportunity to score when they drove to the New Hope 31-yard line in the opening period of play. Danville's drive would end on the next play when an errant pass was intercepted by the Indian defense.
