Appleton starts, Lang leads North in rushing

Hartselle’s Jared Appleton started at right guard and Will Lang led the North team in rushing in a 37-33 loss in the AHSAA North-South All-Star game in Montgomery Thursday night.

Lang had eight rushes for 40 yards including a 20-yard run, the longest run for either team. He also went 4-for-10 for 30 yards passing with no interceptions. He was also sacked twice for a loss of 11 yards.

He also led the North to its final touchdown of the night. He kept a drive alive on a fourth-down pass completion to Seth Dodd. That set up Montel Hale’s 2-yard touchdown run, giving the North a 33-23 lead with 2:45 to go in the game.

However, the South rallied with two touchdowns in the next 2:10 to get the win.
