The Howell family has been one of the most prominent in Hartselle since its early days.
1941 -April 1, Sim Howell, Jr., will enter the U.S. Army soon.
1954 -April 1, Rhona Howell will serve as MCHS student council president during the next school year, having been recently elected by her fellow students to this position.
1908 -April 2, John Howell will run in the fall elections for superintendent of education of Lawrence County on the Republican ticket.
1935 -April 2, Arthur Howell is temporarily employed in Sheffield. Mrs. Howell and the children are making frequent visits to their husband and father.
1946 -April 3, Bev T. Howell is currently making plans for the next session of the Morgan County Singing Convention on the second Sunday of this month. He is the convention's president.
1947 -April 3, Mrs. Opal C. Stewart and Mrs. Elliotte Howell will soon complete this quarter's work at Florence State Teachers College where they are in the process of updating their teaching credentials.
1944 -April 4, Ray Howell is currently enrolled in military school in Columbia, Tennessee.
1944 -April 5, Beth Howell was the only MCHS student to make the first honor roll according to the most recent report.
1975 -April 6, Evelyn Howell will retire from the faculty of the Hartselle Elementary School at the end of the current school year. She has taught 35 years at the school. Miss Howell is the youngest of the six children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur P. Howell.
1929 -April 7, Friends of A. P. Howell, 60-year-old Hartselle resident, will regret to learn that he continues in poor health. Mr. Howell served several terms as mayor of Hartselle and is one of the most prominent men of this section of the county. He was a native of Lawrence County, but moved to Hartselle 21 years ago.
1951 -April 7, According to the MCHS school column published weekly in the Enquirer, young John Howell has a devastating effect on his female classmates: "Just one twinkle of his eyes and the girls drop dead."
