Owner wants land rezoned
The owner of property near the heart of Hartselle's downtown is asking to be removed from the Central Business District.
Jim Norman is asking Hartselle's City Council to amend the zoning ordinance so that two blocks of his property located along East Main Street between Hickory, Chestnut, Hammitt and Railroad Streets, be rezoned from the CBD to local business. The property is home to a gas station, an auto body shop and an antique store.
Norman has appeared before the council several times about the matter, saying the zoning classification is hampering his business.
The zoning change was introduced at the most recent council meeting, and could be voted on at its next meeting.
In another zoning matter, Darwin Halbrooks and Keith Johnson have asked that two lots on Hickory Street between Echols and McClanahan be rezoned from its current R-1 (single family detached residential) to R-2 (single family detached residential).
City inks deals with agencies
Hartselle is renewing its contracts with the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce and Hartselle Beautification Association.
The chamber receives $23,400 in monthly payments of $1,950. HBA receives $35,055 in monthly payments of $2,921.
