Rosa Burgess Prince

A graveside service for Rosa Burgess Prince, 84, of Hartselle was Sunday, June 5, at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, S.C. with Blyth Funeral Home directing. Peck Funeral Home handled local arrangements.

Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Prince died Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 24, 1926, in Louisianna to Wade Hampton Burgess and Flora Anne Cummings Burgess. She was a native of Liberty, S.C. but had been living in Alabama since 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Prince; a daughter, Betty Ann James; a son, Martin Wade Prince; two sisters, Annic Gardner and Dorothy Duncan; and a brother, Sammy A. Burgess Sr.

She is survived by a son, Jimmie Dale Prince and wife Jo of Kennesaw, Ga.; a daughter, Jane Chapman and husband Eland of Saluda. S.C.; a brother, Wade Hampton Burgess Jr. of Texas; a sister, LaRue Kincaid of Texas; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
