No, it’s not luck

Mom’s corner

As I sat in church Sunday, I was reminded how blessed we are to be able to sit in church and worship our Heavenly Father. We can openly go to church. We do not have to sneak around to attend a worship service or Bible study.
Do you know that in many countries, among them China and most Muslim countries, it is illegal to distribute a Bible, own a Bible, be a Christian, preach the Gospel, hold a worship service or Bible study? I do not mean illegal as in you get a fine. I mean illegal as in you are thrown in jail and possibly never heard from again!
I had someone say to me that we are very “lucky” to live in a country like the United States.  No, I do not agree.  I do not believe “luck” had anything to do with it! Our freedom to worship how we please did not come to us by “luck;” it was earned through the sacrifice of those who serve in our military and their families.
Memorial Day, which was originally called Decoration Day, is the day set aside for remembering those who have died protecting the freedoms we enjoy on a daily basis.  I want to encourage you to take time today to think of all the freedoms we enjoy and take some time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms.
