U.S. Rep. Bud Cramer (D-Ala.) assisted Mayor Clif Knight, Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce members and other area leaders recently in a ribbon cutting ceremony for Midway Manor Apartments.
The construction of the apartments was made possible through the Federal HOME Program and Low Income Housing Tax Credits, as well as financing from Regions Bank.
"This is an exciting day for the Hartselle community as we cut the ribbon on this 28-unit apartment complex that will help some of our elderly family members and friends in this area," Cramer said. "Midway Manor will provide 27 members of the community with affordable housing in this convenient area of Hartselle, just a stone's throw from local churches, shopping centers, banks and schools. The Hartselle community takes care of its elderly citizens, and I congratulate the entire team that worked hard to make these apartments a reality for Hartselle seniors."
Midway Manor, located on Midway Street, is comprised of 28 brick apartment units. The apartments are intended for low to moderate income elderly individuals.
Rent at the complex will range from $260 to $280 a month per unit.
The complex includes a full-time resident manager with an on-site office, a community room, on-site laundry facility and pavilion. Water, sewer and trash collection is also included in the cost of rent.
Midway Manor is estimated to generate approximately $6,500 in real estate taxes and $13,200 in water, sewage, garbage and utility revenues for the city of Hartselle and Morgan County.
