Prep football roundup | Danville picks up first win

The Danville Hawks picked up their first win of the season in a 20-14 win over Shoals Christian in overtime this past Friday.

Shoals Christian took and early 7-0 lead before the Hawks cut the lead to 7-6. The Flames extended their lead to 14-6 before Danville tied the game at 14-14 with a touchdown and a two-point conversion right before halftime.

The Hawks scored in overtime and held the Flames out of the end zone to get the win.

Priceville 42, St. John Paul II 18: Priceville extended their region win streak to 16 games after their 42-19 win over JPII.

Blitz Clemons ran for 233 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs attack. Jake England added 127 yards rushing along with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Riley Wagg.

Priceville (4-3, 4-0) will host North Jackson (1-5, 1-3) on Friday.

Lexington 31, Falkville 12: Falkville dropped their third straight region game with a 31-12 loss to Lexington.

Brodie Bennett led Falkville with 91 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Falkville (3-3, 1-3) will travel to Red Bay (4-2, 2-1) in a pivotal 2A Region 8 matchup on Friday.

Russellville 56, Brewer 19: The Patriots fell 56-19 to visiting Russellville in a 5A Region 8 matchup.

DJ Burney led the Patriots with 297 yards passing and three touchdowns. Hunter Knighten had four receptions for 162 yards and two touchdowns, while Austyn Holmes had six catches for 119 yards and a touchdown.

Brewer (3-4, 2-2) will play Fairview on Friday.
