Hartselle Drama troupe to compete on national stage

Six students from Hartselle High School’s drama department are headed to nationals this summer. There are seven students attending and six scored superior and will compete.

Kennedy Cataline, Lily Collins, Calvin Lindsey, Laura Lundy, Lauren Maxson and Kooper Rooks will compete this summer at Indiana University June 19-24.

These students earned a bid to nationals by scoring a superior score during the Alabama Thespian Festival in February.

“We are so excited to see the department growing and the student’s continued success,” Monica Gregory said. “We appreciate the community’s support for the arts.”

The troupe will sponsor an Elvis Remembered concert May 13 at Hartselle High School featuring Michael Dean and Memphis.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. in the HHS auditorium. Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased on MySchoolBucks and at the door. For more information, contact drama teacher Lisa King at lisa.king@hartselletigers.org

Several spirit nights are also scheduled to help the troupe fundraise. Moe’s BBQ in Hartselle will donate 10 percent of proceeds from 4-9 p.m. May 9, while Marcos Pizza will sponsor the troupe May 16 and May 23.
