Netflix has become one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world. There are a lot of reasons and one big one is nostalgia. That’s right, looking back to the “good ole days.”

Netflix has, over the last several years, brought back popular shows or movies either in reboots or continuation. These shows are usually pretty successful and run for several seasons or if they are movies may even lead to sequels or their own show. The reason they are successful is because of the familiarity. People like what they know and will oftentimes gravitate back toward that even if it’s just out of curiosity.

We get that way in our spiritual lives sometimes. When we become a Christian, it is a whole new life with a whole new set of responsibilities (2 Cor. 5:17). That can be difficult and we sometimes gravitate back to what we knew before, the easier life, what is familiar. We must be careful when diving back into that old life, because sometimes it gets us hooked again and our new life is ruined.

In Luke 9:62 the Bible reminds us that those who “look back” at that former way of life are not “fit for the kingdom of God.” In 2 Peter 2:20-22, we are told that those who go back after having the knowledge of the Lord it is worse for us than if we never knew God. So we have to be careful to not live a Netflix kind of life and continually go back to what we are comfortable with. God never said the life of a Christian would be comfortable, but He promises it is filled with blessings that lead to eternity with Him.
