Eva Frontier Days set for Sept. 17-24

The Town of Eva its annual Frontier Days festival Sept. 17-24.  

The festivities will kick off with the beauty pageant held at Charlie’s Vineyard, at Frost Farm, located at 1684 Frost Rd. in Eva Saturday at 10 a.m. The age divisions are Little Tiny Miss (newborn to 11 mo.), Tiny Miss (1-2 years old) Little Miss (3-4 years), Petite Miss (5-6 years), Junior Miss (7-9 years), Preteen Miss (10-12 years), Teen Miss (13-15 years) and Miss (16-18 years.) 

The entry fee is $40 per-contestant. Miss Photogenic will be $5 per picture and the People’s Choice Award for each category, for each contestant will be $1 per vote. The deadline for entry is Sept. 9 and there will not be any entries accepted the morning of the pageant. All applications must be turned in to Amy Weaver and all proceeds benefit Eva Frontier Days.  

Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. there will be a hayride. Rides cost $1 and everyone gets a hotdog and drink at the end of the ride. The Eva Frontier Days community singing will be held at Eva Baptist Church Sept. 22 at 7 p.m., with lots of old fashion hymn book singing, fun and fellowship. Eva Frontier Days will also hold Music on the Square, on Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. in downtown Eva. The special entertainers for the event will be Another Town made up of band members Stacy Richardson, Damien Kidd, Russell Rollo, Anthony Bailey and Adam Duke.  The group will be performing under the entertainment tent. Admission for this event is free.  

The festival will culminate Sept. 24. With arts and craft shows from 9 a.m until 5 p.m. The craft booth rental fee costs $35 and the food booth rental fee is $50. Visit http://www.evafrontierdays.com/ for more information about renting a booth. 

The parade will be Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. in downtown Eva . Anyone wishing to be in the parade should be at the Eva Community Center no later than 10 a.m 

Live entertainment including  The Pylant Family, Dry Creek Bluegrass, Abby Huffnagle and Wildcat Ridge will perform throughout the day Sept. 24. There will be a pig calling contest at 3 p.m. followed by a frog jumping contest at 4 p.m. at the Eva ballfields. Cash prizes will be awarded. A greased pig chase will also be held at the ballfields beginning at 5 p.m. Frontier Days will also feature the first barrel bash this year.
