Softball all-stars compete in AAYS state championships

The Hartselle 6U and 8U All-Stars traveled to Alexander City this past weekend for the All-American Youth Sports Alabama State Championships.

The 6U All-Stars finished second after battling through the loser’s bracket. They lost to West Mobile 17-16 in the opening round of bracket play before bouncing back with a 21-6 win over Limestone County and a 20-19 win over Athens to advance to the championship game. They defeated West Mobile 17-7 in the first championship game to force a second game where they lost 15-14.

The 8U All-Stars finished pool play 2-0 with wins over Walker County and Monrovia. They lost their first bracket game 18-10 to Walker County but then defeated Athens 17-3. However, they dropped a one-run decision 8-7 to Limestone County Clem to end their tournament run.
