American Legion awards scholarships

Special to the Enquirer

Three Morgan County seniors recently received scholarships from Hartselle’s John F. Thompson American Legion Post 52.

Graduating high school seniors Bryan Bryce, Lyndsey Crouch and Eli Terry will each receive $1,000 for use at the university or technical college of their choice. They were selected for their academic achievements, participation in school extracurricular activities and community involvement. Each applicant was also required to submit an essay relating to the military service of their parent or grandparent.

“The process of narrowing down a large applicant pool is a challenging one, especially when it is composed of so many qualified and deserving candidates,” said Post Commander Michael Ferguson. “Our scholarship committee did an outstanding job in their evaluations, and I congratulate both the students and parents on receiving this award.”

Two of the three scholarship winners are students from Hartselle High School. Couch plans to attend Auburn University, while Terry plans to attend the University of Alabama. Bryan is a graduate of Falkville High School. He plans to attend Wallace State Community College.
