Hartselle alum finds new home at West Florida

Moriah Taylor has found a new place to showcase her basketball skills.

Taylor, a four-time All-State selection from Hartselle, announced this past Wednesday that she will be transferring to the University of West Florida.

“West Florida is a place where winning and winning championships are expected,” Taylor said. “That’s exactly what it was like at Hartselle. So I’ve missed the environment, and I’m glad to be back in it.”

The University of West Florida, located in Pensacola, is the home of the Argonauts and is an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Gulf South Conference.

West Florida finished fourth during the 2021-22 season with a 19-8 overall record and 13-6 in the conference. The team is coached by Stephanie Lawrence Yelton.

Taylor averaged three points a game this past season at Georgia State. She hit 18 of 37 three-pointers.
