Teams compete in Morgan County Soccer Tournament

The Morgan County Soccer Tournament was held this past week, with teams from Hartselle, Brewer, Danville and Priceville competing.

The girls’ tournament was won by Decatur, which defeated Austin 2-0 in the championship game. The Lady Red Raiders defeated Priceville 3-0 in the semifinals.

Semifinals: Decatur 3, Priceville 0
Priceville battled but came up short in the Morgan County Tournament semifinals against the defending champion Lady Red Raiders.

Austin 6, Priceville 1
Anna Katherine Hopkins netted the Lady Bulldogs’ lone goal in their loss to Austin. Goaltender Tori Staats had 17 saves for Priceville.

Priceville 4, Danville 1
Hopkins finished with four goals and four steals in the Lady Bulldogs’ win over Danville. Staats had 10 saves to give Priceville a 1-0 start in the Morgan County Tournament.

The boys’ tournament was won by Austin, who defeated Decatur 1-0 in the championship game. Decatur advanced to the finals by defeating Hartselle 2-0 in the semifinals.

The Bulldogs and Hawks battled to a 1-1 tie in the opening match of the Morgan County Tournament. Elijah Hopkins had the Priceville goal.

Priceville 4, Mae Jemison 0
Maclain Lawson, Hayden Denson, Austin Herchenhahn, and Carson Taylor netted goals for the Bulldogs in their shut-out win over the Jaguars. Joey Lubisco had two assists, while Lawson added one.
