Lady Tigers run past Madison Academy

Hartselle 44, Madison Academy 27 

The Lady Tigers welcomed the Lady Mustangs to Hartselle for a matchup of 6A squads on Dec. 7. 

Hartselle came from one-point down in the closing moments of the first quarter with a 4-0 run to take an 11-8 into the second quarter. The Lady Tigers extended their lead to 20-13 at halftime by outscoring the Lady Mustangs 9-5.  

Masyn Marchbanks finished with 14 first-half points for the Lady Tigers, while Alyssa McMinemon had four. 

The third quarter opened with Madison Academy going on a 4-0 run to cut the Hartselle lead to 20-17. Hartselle answered with a 16-2 run to close the quarter with a 36-19 lead. Marchbanks had 14 of the 16 Lady Tiger points in the quarter. 

The teams finished the game by scoring eight points each in the fourth quarter. McMinemon led the way with four points for Hartselle. 

Marchbanks finished with 28 points, eight steals and seven rebounds to lead Hartselle (8-4). McMinemon had eight points, four steals, three rebounds, two assists and a block. Karleigh Shipley added four points, and Emma Roden scored three.
