Massey community welcomes new business

The Massey community is pleased to welcome a new business: the Southern Belle Thrift Store.

The thrift store is owned by Misty Norton Luke, and she welcomes everyone to come out and visit her. The store is located behind McKendree United Methodist Church at Massey.

Misty said her hours will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you wish to make a donation to her thrift store, you are welcome to do so. If she isn’t open, please leave your donation on the porch.

The Southern Belle Thrift Store has a lot of items to choose from and a good selection of nice clothes, as well, so come out to the Massey community and say hello to Misty.

Area Community News

Congratulations go out this week to the Falkville Color Me Downtown 5K Run winners. The male winners are Taylor Smith, Danny Shepherd, T Y Ward, Clay Smith, Lee Bennett, Mickey Wallace and Gary Rhodes. The female winners are Meggie Bramlett, Brea Bryan, Chelsey George, Lauren Estes, Deborah Russell and Carol Bracier.

Special thanks to everyone who participated.

Care and concern are extended this week to Terry Blevins, Jerri Blevins Hyatt and Sherri Blevins Anders over the passing of their mother, Myrtle Powell Blevins. Myrtle was a long-time Corinth community resident and widow of the late Maxel Dale Blevins. Their grandsons are well known as Holy Smoke Barbecue managers, Bradley and Bart Hyatt.

The Summerford Nursing Home activities director gave the residents and staff a Halloween party Oct. 29 with black and orange balloons, streamers and special lighting. They also enjoyed a costume competition. Everyone had a good time.

Oct. 27 McKendree United Methodist Church youth and adults enjoyed food and games at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The music leaders played Monster Mash and spooky music. Everyone had a really good time.

Oct. 16 Corinth West Baptist Church members prepared and delivered 76 stew suppers to residents of the Piney Grove, Mt. Vernon, Macedonia, Corinth and Battleground communities.
