City Center Village holds special activities to honor veterans

Veterans Day is coming, Christy Groves enjoys planning special events to honor the City Center Village veterans and let them know they are still appreciated for serving their country. Christy said nothing puts a smile on their faces like getting cards from the community, and they love the homemade ones from their area’s youth. City Center Village stretches its  

City Center Village currently has 10 veterans: Paul Thiel, Navy, Korean War, 1953-1961; Nadine Kaina, Navy, Korean War, 1955-56; Ralph Rich, Army National Guard, Vietnam War, 1954-1956; Kemo Nelson, Army, Vietnam War, 1959-1962; Paul Arena, Army, Vietnam War, 1960-1963; Roy Dennis Edwards, Air Force, Vietnam War, 1961-1970; Edward Shroeder, Army, Vietnam War, 1964-1970; Dan Lester, Army, Vietnam War, 1967-1971; James (Jim) Mullette, Army, Vietnam War, 1967-1968; and Alfred Funston, Army, Vietnam War, 1969-1971.   

If anyone would like to send cards, please send by Nov. 5 to CCV Veterans, c/o Christy Groves, 807 Bank St. NE, Decatur, AL 35601.  

Please put a smile on a veteran’s face by sending a card;  

Corinth West Congregational Methodist Church to sell   

The members of Corinth West Congregational Methodist Church will hold a Swamp John’s fundraiser Oct. 30 from 4-7 p.m. Plates may be taken to go, or spaced seating will be provided in the fellowship hall. Diners will have a choice of shrimp, fish and chicken.
