Are you focusing on your impact?

By Todd Barrier

Impact.

What a word. Its formal definition is this: the action of one object coming forcibly into contact with another.

Like most words, it has more than one meaning. I like one of the other definitions: to have a strong effect on someone or something.

Most Christians have felt both of these definitions when it comes to our lives as Christians – the forcible contact of understanding what Jesus did because of my sins and the strong effect His actions had to make me understand I needed Him more than anything.

In a world where a lot of people still don’t know the true gospel of Christ, we should be cognizant of our impact as Christians.

When we represent Christ, we might be the only contact someone ever has with the gospel. That impact can have a positive or negative effect on someone. Impact.

The Bible says in Matthew 5:13-16 for us to represent Him on Earth. We are called to be the salt, the shining light of the world – the impact.

We are the ones who will have a gospel impact on the world. It’s up to us whether someone sees it in a positive or negative light.

Are you focusing on your impact?
