TitleItty-Bitty Kitty-Corn

Author: Shannon Hale

Illustrator: Leuyen Pham

Reading Level: Young children

This little ball of fur believes she just might be a unicorn. She feels very “unicorn-y.”

Kitty stands tall and prances her paws. She doesn’t let her animal friends discourage her. She keeps her head up high until the unicorn appears – and then Kitty feels no bigger than a piece of fuzz.

Kitty sadly walks away because now she is not the unicorn. But Unicorn befriends her and tells her they are a Kitty-Corn.

These two become fast friends, leaping and galloping and purring and playing together all day long.

This is a fun book for little ones. These two friends embrace each other and their uniqueness. It’s great message to read with your little ones and a wonderful new addition to our library.

Title: Shadow and Bone

Author: Leigh Bardugo

Reading Level: Young adult

Alina Starkov is an orphan from Ravka who thinks she is a normal human. She is actually a rare type of Grisha, the Sun Summoner – the longawaited Grisha who will destroy the fold and kill the Volcra

Alina must learn to use her powers by working with the Darkling. He is an ancient Grisha whose powers are the opposite of hers. He summons the dark and shadows.

Although Alina is their salvation, many people outside of Ravka want her dead. They hate Grisha and their abilities over humans.

Alina must learn who her allies are and who her enemies are. If she can find her way, she just might survive.

This book is great for young adult readers. It is full of fantasy. After the success of the Netflix TV show, this book is a must read.
