Daystar Church distributes food boxes to community

Special to the Enquirer

Gracie Lewis and Maria Whitmire collect tickets ahead of the food giveaway at Daystar Church April 19. Daystar Church was selected as a Farmers to Families distribution site, a government program providing free perishable food boxes to families. More than 1,000 food boxes were distributed each week during the months of February and March and again April 19. “We are thankful for the opportunity to bless our community with these free food boxes while sharing our vision of community transformation through the love and power of Jesus Christ,” said outreach director Ginger Cataline. The car line started forming early, and distribution began at 9 a.m. Hartselle Utilities provided Daystar with traffic cones to direct the car line; Americ Rental donated the use of a forklift for moving pallets to loading stations; and volunteers help the event move quickly. Another food distribution is scheduled for May 17.
