Lady Hawks advance to Area Tournament Final with 48-37 win over Vinemont

The Danville Lady Hawks season will continue following their 48-37 win over Vinemont in the first round of the 3A Area 15 Area tournament.

Blayne Godfrey hit three three-pointers in the first quarter for Danville, but it was three three-pointers by Vinemont that helped the Lady Eagles take an 11-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Godfrey scored six in the second to help the Lady Hawks take a 20-19 lead into halftime.

Vinemont outscored Danville in the third quarter 12-11 to tie the game at 31-31, heading to the fourth quarter.

The Lady Hawks pulled away for the 48-37 victory in the fourth by hitting 11 out of 13 free throws while holding the Lady Eagles to six points.

Blayne Godfrey finished with 17 points to lead Danville (10-12). Younger sister Brityan finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds, while Alyssa Brooks added seven points.

Madysen Hacker had 12 points to lead Vinemont (5-21).

Danville will travel to Phil Campbell on Thursday night for the 3A Area 15 final. The Lady Bobcats defeated East Lawrence 64-18 in their area tournament game.
