Hartselle Enquirer

Local chronic disease management program begins Jan. 14

Special to the Enquirer

Like many other agencies, the North Alabama Regional Council of Governments has had to adapt its existing wellness programs to meet the needs of older individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beginning Jan. 14, NARCOG will offer a new format of the evidence-based Chronic Disease Self-Management Program.

This eight-week course can be completed from the comfort of home, and materials are mailed to each participant before the class start date.

Topics for this free course include healthy eating, exercise, communication and medication management. Register and receive the following by mail:

Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions book

Relaxation for Mind and Body CD

Exercise CD and accompanying book

Access to eight weekly calls with a trained leader

Participants must register before Jan. 7.

A second class will begin Feb. 17, and registration for that must be completed before Feb. 10.

For more information or to register, contact NARCOG at 256-355-4515, ext. 247, or stephanie.king@adss.alabama.gov
