Hartselle Cross Country competes in Morgan County, Northwest Alabama championships

The Hartselle boys and girls crosscountry teams competed in the Morgan County Championships and Northwest Alabama Championship at the famed Oakville Indian Mounds Oct. 27 – and came away with something to brag about 

The boys’ team won the county championship as well as the Northwest Alabama championship. The girls’ team finished second in the county championship. 

The boys’ team had two of the top three finishers and five of the top 17 to win the Northwest Championship with a total of 49 points.  

In the county championship, the boys had seven of the top 11 runners to finish with 20 points.  

The boys were led by Sellers Brown, who finished at 16:58:10. He was followed by Connor Clabough17:10:13, and Caydin Newberry17:53:57, in the overall event. Brown finished second, Clabough was third and Newberry came in 11th. 

The girls’ team, with 55 points, finished runner-up to Decatur, trailing by six points. The girls were led by Elena Johnston, who finished at 22:24:03, and Aubree Anders at 24:16:93. Johnston finished third, while Anders finished eighth.
