Volleyball Notebook: Priceville volleyball wins Brewer Invitational

The Priceville Bulldogs battled back from an opening three-set loss t5A No. 9 West Point – 9-25, 25-23, 12-15 – in bracket play to win the Brewer Invitational Saturday. 

Following the loss to West Point to open pool play, the Bulldogs downed Ardmore 25-13 and 25-20 and 1A No. 6 Decatur Heritage 25-17 and 25-11 to advance to bracket play. 

Priceville opened bracket play with a three-set victory over host 5A No. 7 Brewer 25-21, 19-25, and 21-1) to advance to the championship match and a rematch with West Point. 

In the finals, Priceville swept West Point 25-19 and 25-22 to win the tournament. 

Abigail Garrison led the Bulldogs with 55 kills, 18 digs, and five aces, while Zoey Benson added 36 kills and ten digs. Katrina Rotermund had 105 assists, 18 digs, nine kills and six aces. 

Earlier in the week, Priceville picked up wins over Good Hope – 25-6, 22-25, 15-12 – and 4A No. 10 Central-Florence – 25-15, 25-7. 

Benson led the Bulldogs with 10 kills and five blocks, while Rotermund had 28 assists, 11 digs, six kills and three aces. 

Danville 

The 3A No. 2 Hawks opened the season with a three-set sweep over 3A No. 3 Geraldine – 25-21, 26-24, 25-23. 

Danville was led by Llayne Skinner, who finished with 14 kills, 14 digs, and three aces, while Faith Parker added 17 kills, seven digs, and three aces. Vana Free had 39 assists and 11 digs.
