Eva, Hartselle men face drug charges

Special to the Enquirer

Deputies conducted a traffic stop May 29 on a vehicle that was speeding on Highway 31 N. The vehicle’s occupants now face drug charges.

After the vehicle came to a stop in the median across from the Wavaho gas station, deputies made contact with the driver, Isiah Lee Akers, 20, of Eva and passenger Lukas Wyatt Fortenberry, 21, of Hartselle.

According to law enforcement, during the stop, the occupants consented to a search of the vehicle, which revealed a quantity of heroin and marijuana.

Agents with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Drug Enforcement Unit were called to the scene and arrested both subjects.

Akers and Fortenberry were each charged with possession of a controlled substance–heroin and possession of marijuana, second degree. Bond for each was set $1,300.

Both were transported to and booked in the Morgan County Jail.
