Patrick Caver to speak at Shady Gove March 11

Patrick Caver will be the guest speaker at Shady Grove Baptist Church March 11 at 6:30 p.m. He will be speaking to fifth grade through 12th grade, and the program will be on Social Media and the Law 

All area youth groups are invited to attend.  

Local officials attend monthly meeting  

The mayors, town clerks and Morgan County Commission met March 5 at the Somerville Senior Center at 6:30 p.m. for their monthly meal.  

Corinth West Methodist Church Activities  

Volunteers at Corinth West Methodist Church served Swamp John’s meals in the fellowship hall Feb. 29 from 47 p.m. The church members and pastor Bro. Wayne Jetton expressed their appreciation to everyone who helped and to the more than 200 patrons who bought a meal.  

The proceeds will go their church general fund.  

The members of Corinth West Methodist Church will hold a Spring Revival March 23-25 through at 7 p.m. The evangelist will be the Rev. Josh Black, who is a pastor in the Arab area.  

Danville High School Sports News  

The Danville High School Hawks baseball team will play at Vinemont March 12 at 4:30 p.m. March 14 they will play Cleveland at 1 p.m. and Falkville at 3 p.m.  

The Danville Hawks new coach is Matt Smith.  

Best wishes to the team and the coaching staff.  

The Danville Lady Hawks will play at Hatton March 12 at 4:30 p.m. March 16 the team will travel to Brewer to play the Lady Patriots at 4:30 p.m.  

Their coach is Lori Bailey.  

Good wishes to the Lady Hawks for the season, which ends May 16 at the state tournament in Montgomery.  

Corinth West Baptist Church Events  

A fifth Sunday, March 29, fish fry was planned at Corinth West Baptist women’s and men’s breakfast meetings March 1.  

The meal will be at 5 p.m. Brother Glenn Miller, Tony Smithson, David Shedd and Hilton Kelley will be in charge from the men’s group. Patricia Echols, Donna Smithson, GayNell Wilhite and Anita Reid from the women’s group will be in charge of sides and desserts.  

Gayle Miller and Dana Henslee served breakfast food and beverages for the Corinth West Baptist meetings March 1.   

After Christie Guthrie’s devotional, the business session was conducted by Donna Smithson.  

The Senior Citizens meeting will be held on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, at 11 a.m. A potluck meal was planned, and everyone is encouraged to wear green.  

Plans for Summer Bible School were also discussed.
