How courageous are you?

By Todd Barrier

Courage is something Christians need. In fact, we talk about it all of the time.

One of the most oftenused Bible verses on the subject is Phil. 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I think we misuse that verse, oftentimes. I believe it’s talking about spiritual strength/courage.

For the Christian to be able to have courage in his or her life, it will have to flow from the spiritual side. We must first seek the courage to stand up/fight/be unafraid spiritually before the physical courage comes.

The Bible tells us to be strong and courageous because the Lord is always with us (Deut. 31:6). In 2 Timothy 1:7 Paul tells us God gave us not a spirit of fear! We also learn in Proverbs 28:1 that the righteous are bold as a lion.

For us to have courage means we first trust in God for all of our needs, and after that we can accomplish great spiritual and physical things because we are led by Him.

How courageous are you?

We look forward to seeing you Sunday!
