Shady Grove Baptist Church Community Activities

The members of Shady Grove Baptist Church packed 202 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes this year. Since 2004, Shady Grove has packed a total of 5,829 shoe boxes.

Their offering for the Gideon’s Ministry was $722 dollars.

A Sav A Life Baby Shower was held with great success, with many diapers, wipes, bottles, blankets and clothes being donated.

Several blankets were donated to Blanket Blessings for the Homebound.

Shady Grove Church expresses thanks to everyone for their support.

Fairview–The Grace Place Church Events

Fairview–The Grace Place Church office is the drop-off point for donations of stuffed animals to be given to children who have been through traumatic events. This project is being sponsored by local law enforcement staff members.  

Dec. 6, socks and gloves were collected at the church for the homeless ministry. 

Launch Pad for Kids meets from 10 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of each month at the church.The children will learn what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. 

Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. the church’s Christmas Showcase was presented. The event included a Christmas program, decorating Christmas cookies and a visit from Santa.

Everyone is welcome to attend services at Fairview–The Grace Place Church. 

Corinth West Baptist Church Activities

The members of Corinth West Baptist Church hosted their Senior Citizens Day activities recently with about 50 area residents and guests attending.

Those attending enjoyed the program, presented by GayNell Wilhite. A wonderful meal and fellowship were also enjoyed.

Patricia Echols called four bingo games, and Anita Reid purchased and displayed the bingo prizes.

Everyone had a good time with the program, fellowship meal and bingo games. 

Mt. Zion Church December News

The members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church held their Christmas Cantata Sunday morning with Dr. Jerome Ward and the choir presenting a special program with heartfelt music.

Lana Tew directed the children’s program Dec. 22 at 6 p.m., with food and fellowship afterward. 

Jan. 5 Kim Sivley was in charge of the men’s breakfast for those attending. The meeting was enjoyed, along with the good breakfast provided by Kim.

Massey family enjoys holiday gathering

Lorene Dutton Bryant of the Massey community celebrated her first Christmas in 1920. She is still living at her home with home caregivers and family help. She enjoys cards, visitors, certain foods and costume jewelry. On Christmas Eve, her family came for supper and a gift exchange.

Those attending the celebration were John, Steven and Laurie Bryant, Mitchell B. Owens, Mitchell Owens, John and Stacey Owens and Clare, David and Tiffany Owens, Silas and Eve and Pam Holmes. Thursday Lorene’s nieces visited with food and gifts. Those attending included Dana Lamb of Knoxville, June Evans of Falkville, Jane Knight of Hartselle and Judy Steele of Andrews Chapel. They all really enjoyed visiting with Lorene.

Feb. 16 Lorene will celebrate her 100th birthday. 

Besnyl family enjoys holiday activities

The Besnyl family met Christmas Day at the home of Terry Boyd in Decatur. Those attending the gathering were Carolyn Besnyl and Randy Besnyl of Massey, Noah and Britney Boyd of Decatur, Billy and Donna Posey of Smith Lake, Rebekah and Robert Mobley and Daniel Mobley of Huntsville, Jamie and Mark Howard, Wyatt and Colin of Decatur, Matthew Roper, Dwayne and Mandy Roper and Danny Caddell of Decatur.

Everyone enjoyed a wonderful time of visiting and  super good food.
