Prep Basketball Scorebook: Thomas, Hood post double-doubles in Priceville’s win over Falkville

West Point Christmas Tournament

Chris Thomas and Seth Hood each finished with double-doubles to lead Priceville to an 83-70 victory over Falkville in a consolation game.

Thomas had 26 points and 14 rebounds, while Hood finished with 13 points and 11 assists.

Trey Summers, who just missed on a third double-double of the game for the Bulldogs, finished with 22 points and eight rebounds.

Priceville (3-12) led 48-40 at halftime.

Avery Miller led three Falkville (1-9) players in double-digits with 24 points, while Dawson Norwood added 12, and Camden Reid had 11.

Priceville will meet Brewer in the 5th place game at 10:15 am, while Falkville will face Cold Springs in the 7th place game at 9:00 am.

Brewer 65, Cold Springs 51: Three Brewer players scored in double-digits to lead the Patriots to a victory over Cold Springs in a consolation game.

Jake Lawrence led Brewer (7-10) with 16 points and five rebounds, while Mann McLemore added 15 points, and Connor Hall had 13 points and four assists.

The Patriots led 31-25 at halftime.

Cold Springs (7-9) was led by Brody Peppers, who had 15 points, and Tanner Kilgo, who added 12 points.

Danville 81, Hayden 50: KJ Melson and Wren Cole combined for 42 points in the Hawks victory over Hayden in the semi-finals.

Melson finished with 24 points and seven rebounds, while Cole added 18 points and five rebounds.

Grant Sparks had 11 points and Kohl Randolph added nine for the Hawks who led 43-34 at halftime.

Hayden (9-5) was led by Carson Rickels, who had 11 points, and Owen Gooch, who finished with 10 points.

Danville (10-4) will face West Point (8-10), who beat Corner (6-10) 76-62, in the finals at 12:45 pm.

BallN Prep Holiday Invitational

Opelika 53, Hartselle 51: Four Hartselle players scored in double-digits but it was not enough as the Lady Tigers fell to Opelika.

Hartselle (9-8) was led by Masyn Marchbanks, who finished with 13 points while Lillyanna Cartee added 11 points. Carrington Hogan and Hailey Holshouser each added 10 points.

The Lady Tigers led 33-30 at halftime.

Opelika (13-4) was led by Kaitlyn Bryant, who scored a game-high 18 points, and Amanda Hughley, who added 13 points.

Hartselle will play Duluth (GA) at 10:00 am in their final game of the tournament.

Keith Davis Memorial Christmas Tournament

Priceville 62, Midfield 35: Priceville held Midfield to 13 points in the second half as the Lady Bulldogs pulled away for a victory.

Priceville (9-7) was led by Jenna Walker, who finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Olivia Gann added 12 points and six assists, and Natalie Cartee had 11 points.

The Lady Bulldogs led 25-22 at halftime.

Midfield (10-6) was led by Ahnyia Foster, who finished with 14 points and Jemeriah Mooer, who added 12 points.

Priceville will play Hatton at 2:15 pm today.

Decatur Orthopedic Clinic Classic

Brewer 57, Decatur 27: Brewer jumped out to a 26-9 lead at halftime and cruised to a victory over Decatur.

Brewer (12-7) was led by Evaiah Burrows, who finished with 21 points while Hope West added 17.

Decatur (0-13) was led by K’Tlyn Taylor and Jayden Stover, each finished with five points.

Tanner Christmas Tournament

Falkville 42, Tanner 40:  Falkville used a balanced scoring attack with eight players scoring in their nail-biting victory over Tanner.

Falkville (10-5) was led by Abby Speegle, who had nine points, while Sydney Fitzgerald finished with eight points and seven rebounds. Erika Johnson pulled down 12 rebounds for the Lady Blue Devils.

Tanner (8-5) was led by Keyera Jeanes, who scored a game-high 17 points.
