Hartselle opens season with victory of Brewer Patriots

The Hartselle Tigers boy basketball team opened the season with a 73-49 victory over the visiting Brewer Patriots Nov. 12. 

The Tigers were led by junior Brody Peebles, who scored a career-high 40 points in the victory. His previous career-high of 36 came in games against Athens and Cullman in the previous season. 

Peebles scored 20 of the first 22 points for Hartselle. He finished with four three-pointers and hit all six of his free throws. 

Tad Sivley added 20 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and five steals for the Tigers, while Kiah Key added eight points, five rebounds and four assists. 

Brewer (0-2) was led by Mann McLemore, who scored 15 points. Matt Kempson and Charlie Humphrey had seven points each. 

GIRLS: Brewer 53, Hartselle 45 

Brewer (1-2) outscored Hartselle 19-11 in the fourth quarter to pick up a 53-45 victory over the Lady Tigers. 

Brewer was led by Jacie Andrews, who scored 16 points, and Hope West, who added 15 points. Eviah Burrows added six points and three steals. 

Hartselle was led by Masyn Marchbanks, who had a game-high 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Lillyanna Cartee scored 12 points and seven rebounds, while Hailey Holshouser scored seven.
