Officer of the Quarter goes to one of HPD’s finest

Hartselle Police Department Officer Daniel Parker has been selected Officer of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2019.

Parker, a 15-year veteran of the HPD, was nominated for his professional conduct and recent contributions to the department’s field training program.

Parker was commended with the following message on the police department’s Facebook page:

“Parker is a seasoned officer who treats the public with a great deal of compassion and concern. (He) has also proven himself as a valuable teacher/mentor and has done a tremendous job with his assignment as a field training officer.

“Parker has continually shown himself to be a good decision maker, who is always willing to help others,” the commendation continued. “Recently, he responded to a robbery at Kroger, which also involved two traffic accidents caused by the fleeing suspect. During this incident, Parker displayed skills that were above his level of training and assignment.

“Ultimately, the suspect was successfully captured, and Parker played a key role during the incident. He is a true asset to HPD and our community.”

Parker is now eligible for Officer of the Year consideration, which will be selected in January 2020.
