Joe Wheeler EMC seeks candidates for Hartselle district board seat

Joe Wheeler EMC is looking to fill a vacant seat on its board for District 6, which encompasses much of Hartselle. This seat is left vacant after the death of Charles Segars.

“It is with sincere regret that Joe Wheeler EMC announces a vacancy on our Board of Trustees due to the recent passing of trustee Charles Segars,” a press release reads.

“Mr. Segars had served with distinction on the Joe Wheeler EMC Board, had served as board president and represented the co-op on the Alabama Rural Electric Cooperative Association Board of Directors.”

According to the press release, per the Cooperative’s Bylaws and Board Policies, the JWEMC Board of Trustees Executive Committee and the Cooperative’s attorney will establish a list of potential candidates to fill the vacancy.

Interested potential candidates must reside in District 6, a map of which may be found on the JWEMC website, www.jwemc.coop/content/jwemc-board-trustees

If a candidate would like to confirm district eligibility, they can call 256-552-2300 during regular business hours.

A candidate also must have been a member in good standing for at least one year and at be least 19 years of age.

Once candidate information has been collected, the Committee will then select candidates to be interviewed by the Board of Trustees, who will appoint a successor to complete the remainder of Segars’ term.

Potential candidates should send a brief biographical statement, including name, address, phone number and date of birth to Joe Wheeler EMC, Attn: Melissa Givens, P.O. Box 460, Trinity, AL 35673.

Alternative, the same information may be delivered in person at the co-op’s offices at 25700 Highway 24 in Trinity.

All information must be received in the office by close of business, 4:30 p.m. Sept. 20.

Joe Wheeler EMC is an electric cooperative providing reliable electric service to more than 43,000 homes and businesses across Lawrence and Morgan counties in northwest Alabama for 82 years.
