Priceville announces Chris Foster as new Priceville head football coach

Chris Foster has been announced by Priceville Principal Mark Mason as the new head coach for the Bulldogs. Foster will be replacing Jason Simmons, who left to take an assistant job at Oxford.

“I am excited to be here,” said Foster. “I know with the timing of my hire that this will be a challenging start for Priceville, but we are not going to give up on the year: We are going to go out and work hard in preparing for the upcoming season.”

Foster began his coaching career at Aliceville. He was also an assistant coach at Samson before his four-year run at Brookwood High School. While at Brookwood, he coached on both sides of the ball, spending one year as the defensive coordinator and two years as offensive coordinator. During his time as OC, the team broke several school records.

Mason said he is excited about Foster coming on board at Priceville. “He comes highly recommended by his former head coach and also by his current and former administrators,” said Mason. “He is very knowledgeable about both sides of the football. He has experience as a coordinator, both offensively and defensively.”

Foster becomes the fifth Bulldog head coach since the high school opened in 2002. Previous head coaches were Simmons in 2018-19, Dirk Strunk from 2011-17, Donald Weeks from 2006-10 and Marty Chambers from 2002-05.

Mason said Foster is aware of the work he has ahead of him and is excited for the opportunity to get started. He has already met with his assistant coaches and prepared a plan for finishing the summer strong and moving into fall practice.

Foster and his wife, Misty, have a 2-year-old son.

Priceville will open the season August 30 at Good Hope.
