Brewer girls advance in area tournament win

SOMERVILLE – In the first round of the Class 6A Area 14 tournament, the Brewer varsity girls pulled out a 60-45 victory over Albertville, Monday night. It was anybody’s game after the first quarter, but as the second quarter rolled around the Lady Patriots kicked it up a notch, scoring a whopping 18 points for a total of 33 in the first half.

Shyan Flack led the Patriots’ win, scoring a team-high 18 points. Evaiah Burrows was not far behind scoring 14. The two girls combined for 12 points and were the lone scorers in the fourth quarter for Brewer. Even the valiant efforts made by Albertville’s Hannah Lightsey scoring 22 points for her team couldn’t keep with the Lady Patriots.

Brewer will proceed on to play Cullman for the area championship this Thursday night at 6 pm.
