Meaghan Bond, a senior member of Priceville ’s softball team, signed a letter of intent to play softball for Calhoun Community College on Monday.

She was recognized at a reception given in her honor in the school library. Among those present to extend their congratulations and best wishes were her parents, Shayne and Vera Bond, her twin sister, Shayna Bond, coaches and teammates.

A four-year varsity starter, Bond is her team’s leading pitcher with a 2.0 ERA and one of its top hitters with a .500-plus batting average. She was recruited primarily as an outfielder.

She has received all-county and all-area honors several times and is listed among the honor students in her senior class.

“I’m really excited about having the opportunity to compete at a higher level,” she said, but right now my focus is on winning the regional tournament and going on to win a state championship.”

She credited her success in softball to determination and hard work.

“I just tried to get a little better every day,” she said.

Bond plans to major in physical therapy.

“Her success is a big boost for our program,” said Priceville head “It’s not only a reward for her hard work over a long period of time but also an incentive for young players who aspire to play at the college level. And Meaghan is definitely capable of doing well there.”
