Nance inks with Wallace

If Paul Wilson could have his daughter pick up anything from Ashley Nance, it would be her attitude.
“She doesn’t have to have the athleticism or the 15-foot jumper,” Wilson said. “If my daughter just has Ashley’s great attitude, then I’ll be a happy man.”
Nance, who led Danville to the Class 3A girls basketball championship game, signed Friday with Wallace State Community College. She said she’s happy to get this opportunity.
“I’m excited,” Nance said. “I’m a little nervous, but I got nervous before every game.”
Nance hasn’t decided what will be her major, but she is considering nursing.
Larry Slater, head coach at WSCC, said he’s happy to get a great athlete.
“We’re going to move her game out a little bit,” Slater said. “She’s a great person and a great player. We’re tickled to have her come to Wallace.”

Ashley Nance signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Wallace State. On hand for the signing were, from left, front, Joanna Koins, Nance, Alphonza Koins, (back) WSCC assistant coach Ron Burdette, DHS coach Paul Wilson and WSCC head coach Larry Slater.
