Pre-school storytime and activities at Hartselle public library

Hello from the Library!  We have so many new and exciting things going on!  We are ready for our Pre-school Storytime & Activity Time!  We have kept it on Thursday Mornings at 10:30 a.m.! We have some great new stuff to share with our little ones this year.

We are also adding a great Afterschool Kids Club at 4:30 on Tuesdays starting Sept. 5!  (As with all of our activities we have to have a parent or guardian to stay with their kiddo!)  This club will have a wide variety of activities everything from Lego challenges to chemistry experiments (you do know that’s how we make a volcano blow right?) to a brain teaser to how best to build a newspaper house or an igloo from milk jugs.   I encourage you to come in clothes that are okay to get a little messy in and be prepared to have fun and think outside the library…er box… I mean think outside the box!

With school back in session, we wanted to remind parents and students of the wonderful resources available to them through the Library.  We have some excellent web sites to help with research.  For example, procon.org is a web site for the pros and cons of just about any controversial topic.  The web site “tineye.com” will allow you to upload a picture and then help you determine where it came from so you can cite it.   If you need free pictures then try gratisography, com  or flickr. com/creativecommons.  If you’re in a pinch and looking for a classic you were supposed to be reading and forgot your book; well, try our own Camellia Net or gutenberg.net.au.  We have quite a few other site suggestions just ask us we’re happy to help!

And last, but not least, here is a list of a few of our newest books:

•Crazy House by James Patterson •Barely Legal by Stuart Woods

•Private Gold by James Patterson •Dragonsworn by Sherrilyn Kenyon

•At Love’s Bidding by Regina Jennings •Any Dream Will Do by Debbie Macomber

•Banana Cream Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke •Love Story by Karen Kingsbury

•The Lying Game by Ruth Ware •Use of Force by Brad Thor

•The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand     •Undaunted by Diana Palmer

•No Middle Name by Lee Child •The Darkest Promise by Gena Showalter

We just got a shipment of some fantastic children’s books as well.  We have added to our Nexo Knights,  Ninjago,  Star Wars, and Batman and Robin Adventures just to name a few.

We have also finished our Large Print Grant and added 242 books to that collection!! I want to give a great big Thank You to Patricia and Alli for all their hard work in helping complete that Grant and cataloging the books!

Come see us soon!  We’ve got more planned!  Meet ‘cha at the Library!
