John David Stewart

John David Stewart, 81, of Hartselle passed away April 8, 2017. A graveside service was held at the Stewart Cemetery at Ada Chapel in the Cedar Grove Community of Bibb County, Ala. on Tues., April 11, 2017 at 11 a.m., officiated by his sons.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marquetta June “Marty” Stewart; his two sons, Russell David Stewart (Cindy) of Montgomery, Tx. and Kenneth Dale “Kenny” Stewart (Gale) of Trabuco Canyon, CA, and a son Wesley Daniel Stewart (Sharla) of Hartselle, AL; five grandchildren: Kelly Stewart Porter (Ben), Valerie Stewart Smith (Chris), Kenny David Stewart (Merritt), Paul David Stewart (Abby) and Parker Daniel Stewart; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother; Paul Stewart (Peggy), two sisters; Mildred Duncan (Jimmy) and Charlotte White and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Parker Stewart and Leona Gladys Griffin Stewart; his step-mother, Dorothy Mitchell Stewart and by three sisters, Mary France Rice, Helen Bloodsworth and Nancy Burt.

Mr. Stewart spent most of his life as a Minister of the Gospel of Christ. He was a Deacon, Elder, Preacher and Missionary serving at Churches in Texas, Minnesota and Northern Canada. His faith in God was the driving force of his life and is the reason for his family’s comfort as they grieve his passing.
