CORINTH WEST BAPTIST CHURCH ENJOYS FEBRUARY ACTIVITIES

Soups, stews, beans, cornbread, salads and desserts including chocolate cheese cake, spice cake, chocolate cake, pineapple casserole, fried pies and banana meringue pudding were enjoyed by the 35 attending the “Senior Citizen’s Day” at Corinth West Baptist Church. On Tue., Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. GayNell Wilhite called the group to order. 2 door prizes were given out, birthday Celebrants for February and Anniversaries were recognized. Prayer request were taken and Tony Smithson led the prayer for them. Belinda Ricks gave the devotional on “Love and Hearts.” After lunch, GayNell called four Bingo games and everyone appreciated the nice prizes. The next Senior Citizen’s Day will be Tue., March 21 at 11 a.m. David Shedd and Kim Shedd delivered lunches to the sick and shut-ins in the area.

Gene Wilson of Massey Community will be honored on Sun., March 5 with a BBQ lunch at noon at Corinth West Baptist Church for his “86TH” birthday. Gene’s family and friends are invited. His birthday is on March 8.

Mt. Zion Baptist’s Women’s Missionary Union met on Mon., Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Beverly Murphy presided and during the business session the group decided to help the sick and elderly in the community with yard work. They will also donate funds to the Alabama Children’s Home in Decatur. A fundraiser with Swamp John’s was scheduled for Oct. During the program the women studied various psalms.

Special get-well wishes go out this week to Brother Wayne Penn, the pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist. The ”Puppet Ministry” for children and youth meets on Wedn. nights. Loretta Gilstrap is their director.

Jane and Carl Hill of Mt. Zion community are the proud great grandparents of Graham Winters who was born on Sun. in Nashville, Tennessee.

Student Council Members from Brewer High School and their sponsor, Terry Leeth delivered Valentine boxes of candy to the residents of Summerford Nursing Home and Rehab on Tue., Feb. 14. The students and residents enjoyed the event and the facility staff and patients appreciate the Council and their Leader.

On Wed. nights the women meet at McKendree United Methodist Church for Lisa Harper’s “Study of Mark.” It is also used for their early 2017 course as well as the “Book of Mark.” They meet on Wed. at 6:30 for a potluck meal and then go to the Bible study afterward.

Massey area residents enjoyed the McKendree United Methodist Church’s supper of chili, chicken soup, chili sides, chips and desserts. Chris and Angel Holmes were in charge. Noah Battles led the praise and worship service at 6:15. Afterward Brother Mike Vest led the Men’s group discussion and Tammy Vest conducted the women’s meeting. Hank Summerford helped with the Children and Youth who attended. Celebrate Recovery meets every Fri. night.
