Barbara Whitehead Lankford

Funeral for Barbara Whitehead Lankford, 81, will be Wed., Feb. 22, 2017 at 2 p.m. at East Highland Baptist Church with Bro. Walter Blackman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Lankford died Sun., Feb. 19, 2017 at her residence.  She was born July 25, 1935, in Lauderdale County to Jesse Thurston Whitehead, Sr. and Clara Odell Dean Whitehead.

Barbara was a devoted wife and mother. She and Milton were married for almost 60 years. Barbara was born in Rogersville. She was the youngest of ten siblings. She graduated from Lauderdale County High School and then worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company.  She was a charter member of East Highland Baptist Church.

Survivors include, her husband, Milton Lankford; three sons, Charles Lankford, Gene Lankford (Lea) and Roger Lankford; a sister, Emogene Hyatt; three grandchildren, Jason Patrick Lankford, Whitney Brooke Gower and Matthew Blake Lankford and a special friend, Addie Copeland, who was like a daughter to her.

Pallbearers will be Roland Grantland, Kent Johnson, Allen Drinkard, Russell Ellis, Bill Smelser, and Dudley White.

The family requests that memorials be made to the East Highland Baptist Church Building Fund.
