Jean Mayfield Vest

A Celebration of Life for Jean Mayfield Vest, 83,of Eva was Thur., Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Mayfield and the Rev. Roger Vest officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Oden Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Vest died Tues., Jan. 31, 2017, at Summerford Nursing Home.  She was born June 8, 1933, in Morgan County to Johnny K. Mayfield and Dewey Hazel Harvell Mayfield. She was a longtime and devoted member of Westside Baptist Church, where she was every child’s favorite Sunday school teacher. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Vest was the image of true love, by her actions and words, and was a shining light to her family, friends and her community, never ceasing to pray for others. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Vest; her parents; two brothers, Rev. Bud Mayfield and Jimmy Mayfield; and a grandson, Craig Vest.

She is survived by two sons, Tommy Vest (Sharon) of Moulton and Mike Vest, (Gina) of Eva; a daughter, Vickie Moses (Tony) of Eva; two brothers, Robert Mayfield of Decatur and Benford Mayfield of Hartselle; nine grandchildren, Carea, Chris, Kimberly, Jacob, Jennifer Todd, Shane, Misty and Jerry; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Chris Vest, Jacob Moses, Todd Vest, Jeff Adkins, Keith Wallace and Brad Mayfield.
