Priceville Mexican restaurant approved to sell alcohol

The Priceville Town Council approved the alcohol license from Hay Chihuahua Mexican Restaurant during their bimonthly meeting Monday night.

Among the nightly agenda, a public hearing was set for the approval of the Hay Chihuahua Mexican restaurant’s alcohol license. A resolution was adopted approving Jesus Cordero‘s submission. Mayor Melvin Duran said Cordero had applied after a month of opening his restaurant.

“Mr. Cordero has handled all the paperwork and submissions and he has had a lot of stuff to do,” Duran said. “Now he just has to visit the ABC store and get a license.”

Cordero also owns another Mexican restaurant in Madison and said to the council that he is excited to be a part of the community and every one has been encouraging since he opened the business.

In other business the council:

• Approved the minutes of the Jan.9 Work Session and Council Meeting.

• Approved bills for the month totaling $21,878.86.

• Approved travel expense for Mayor Duran to attend the Congressional District 1 meeting in Saraland on Jan 24.

• Approved 2017 Membership renewal in the amount of $75 for Judge Tilden Dillard to the Alabama Municipal Judges Association.

• Approved registration of $250 and travel expenses for Chip Spicer and Clint King to attend the Chemical Spill Response Training/OSHA Level II in Decatur.

• Approved registration of $250 and travel expenses for Mike Bell and Matt Spicer to attend the Chemical Spill Response Training/OSHA Level II in Guntersville.

• Approved registration, lodging and travel expenses for Chip Spicer to attend the Alabama Vector Management Society meeting in Orange Beach.

• Approved a pay increase for Matt Spicer to $18.50.
