Dollar General robbery suspect turns himself in

Hartselle Police Department took Johnathan Dean Roland, 35, of Hazel Green into custody Wednesday night and charged him with first-degree robbery in connection with a robbery at the Dollar General store on East Main Street Tuesday night.

Roland turned himself in to Hartselle police. He was transported to Morgan County Jail where he was placed under at $1,000 bond.

Dollar General was robbed by a white male with brown hair, beard and mustache.

Hartselle Police investigator Lt. Justin Barley said the robber appeared in the store twice at approximately 7:30 p.m. The first time he left, then reappeared and demanded money from the cashier.

“From what we were told, he had a hand in his pocket and gave the impression of being armed, “ Barley said. “He was given about $100 in cash and left.”

The suspect left the premises in a maroon, extended cab Toyota pickup truck.
