Ennis W. Waits

Funeral for Ennis W. Waits, 87, of Hartselle will be Wed., Dec. 30, at 1 p.m. at Son Rise Baptist Church with Bro. Brian Bridges and Rev. Joe Nuss officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Waits died Mon., Dec. 28, 2015, at his residence. He was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Lawrence County to Travis Waits and Della Bowman Waits.

He was a Navy First Class Seaman on the U.S.S. Adams during World War II and later became a member of the National Guard of Alabama. He was a member of Son Rise Baptist Church and was retired from Decatur Utilities as a supervisor with 37 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Larry Waits and Travis Waits. The family would like to say a special thanks to Hospice of the Valley.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Waits of Hartselle; two sons, Joe Harris, and Alan Harris, both of Hartselle; a daughter, Teresa Hemmingway of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Mavine O’Donnell of Miami, Fla.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Jason Baker, Chip Perry, Justin Baker, Brad Blackwood, Mike Woodall and A.J. Robinson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bryson Harvel and Dalton Kimbril.
