Brewer’s HOSA Chapter has blood drive in Sept.

The Health Science program at A.P Brewer High School has entered its 21st year. The students are excited and eager with the highest number of students ever enrolled in the program.

Mrs. Eva Mangham’s 2015-2016 HOSA officers are Trevor Stapp, president; Christina Alexander and Katelyn Fason, vice- president; Cassandra Knytych, secretary; Destiny Baldwin and Mary Sturtevant, reporter and photographer.

On Sept. 17, HOSA had a very successful blood drive with Life South. There were a total of 105 units of usable blood donated by students, staff, and the community. Officers will be attending a  Joint Leadership Development Conference in October in Birmingham. They will be in attendance with other HOSA members and career tech students statewide. Also, Career Tech classes across Morgan County will participate in the 5k Fun Run for Pancreatic Cancer. Each team of five students have to raise $100 total, in which all proceeds will go towards Pancreatic Cancer research. Sponsors of $50 or more will be recognized on the back of the shirts. Shirts will be donated to all participants. HOSA officers and members are planning to complete several more community service projects in the near future, They are passionate about giving back to the community.
