Funeral for Hoyt Roberts, 73, of Hartselle will be Sun., Aug. 2, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Harold Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sat., Aug. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Roberts died Wed., July 29, 2015, at his residence. He was born Jan. 9, 1942, in Morgan County to James Ben Roberts and Lucy Speakman Roberts. Mr. Roberts graduated in 1960 from MCHS and went to work for 3M in October of 1961, where he worked until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of the Hartselle City Council, President of the Hartselle Youth Football League and coached for Hartselle Dixie Baseball. He served on the board of ARC for six years. He loved racing dirt tracks, soccer and computers. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of his life. Mr. Roberts was full of life, enjoyed being around people and was always quick to argue the opposing side, regardless of his true views. He was loved so very much and leaves an unfillable void for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Marie Roberts, Benton Roberts and Maverine Garner.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Ann Owens Roberts of Hartselle; a son, Jeff Roberts, of Hartselle; a daughter, Susan Curnel (Stan) of Hartselle; a brother, Jimmy Roberts (Valla Ree) of Hartselle; a sister, Sherry Summerford of Hartselle; three grandchildren, David Curnel (Autumn), Leah Roberts and Justin Youngblood (Mandi); two great-grandchildren, Ethan Curnel and Evan Curnel.
Pallbearers will be David Curnel, Justin Youngblood, Bob Davenport, Michael Vinzant, Matt Petersen and Charles Sandlin.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial donations be made to Alacare Hospice.
