Walter Charles McElfresh

Funeral for Walter Charles McElfresh, 70, of Orange Beach, formerly of Hartselle, was Tuesday, April 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Jude's By The Sea Lutheran Church in Gulf Shores with Bayview Funeral Home of Foley directing.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, April 9, at 2 p.m. at Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mr. McElfresh died Saturday, April 5, 2003 at his residence. A native of Kittanning, Pa., he was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Decatur. He was an avid bowler, hunter, fisherman and roller skater. He was the father of the late Walter McElfresh, Jr. and brother of the late Helen Claypoole, Earl McElfresh and Bob McElfresh.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joyanna McElfresh of Orange Beach; four daughters, Linda Jo Whiteley of Cambridge Springs, PA, Barbara Ellen Tarbell of Fayetteville, Ga., Patricia Ann Crossley of Anniston and Linda Ann Face of Decatur; two sons, Jeffrey Charles McElfresh of Greenbrier, Tenn. and Gene Barrows of Elberta; three sisters, Dorothy Darlene Foster, Edna Arlene Claypoole and Reba Jeane Mikula, all of Penn.; one brother, Richard Alvin McElfresh of Penn.; 12 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude's By The Sea Lutheran Church or the American Lung Association in memory of Mr. McElfresh.
