Dorothy Nell Smith

Funeral  for Dorothy Nell Smith, 82, of Danville was Sun., July 19, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Pearl Jenkins officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Andrews Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was Sun., July 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith died Fri., July 17, 2015, at her residence. She was born June 21, 1933, in Morgan County to Homer Shoemaker and Luvina Jane Yates Shoemaker. She enjoyed gardening, yard work and the Gaither’s Quartet. She retired from Summerford Nursing Home after 30 years of service. She was preceded in death by her two husband’s, Joseph Theodore Hogan, who was the father of her children and Doyle C. Smith.

She is survived by three daughters, Jackie Simmons (Richard) of Falkville, Jo Nell Streling (David) of Hartselle and Mary Stephenson (Ron) of Birmingham; a sister, Jessie Barkley of California; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were grandsons.
